Toronto to Host 6 Games Starting June 12th

June 12th is Toronto’s first of 6 Fifa World Cup games and with BMO Field getting $123 million from the City and $23 million from MLSE for upgrades, we’re wondering…what improvements are permanent and which are temporary?

Saving the Best ‘Til Last. Here We Go:

Permanent: 4 LED videoboards on corner columns for better replays

Temporary: 10,000 seats added to the north grandstand

Permanent: Upgraded Wi-Fi, new LED sports lighting, and enhanced audio systems

Temporary: 7,000 seats added to south grandstand, increasing the total capacity from ~30,000 to 45,000

Permanent: New dugouts, world class field upgrades, and modernized locker rooms and player spaces

Temporary: Upgraded broadcast infrastructure for international coverage

Permanent: Additional concession stands with self-serve AI tech, and the new centre-field lounge

Temporary: Name change from BMO Field to Toronto Stadium, thanks to FIFA’s policy against corporate-sponsored names

…and Most Excitingly…

Permanent: Post-tournament rooftop patio with 1,000 person-capacity
