OUR HOSTS
Gary O'Brien
Gary O’Brien gained national recognition through his original oil‑on‑canvas portrait of Canadian icon, Gord Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip. This work was inspired by the band’s 2016 performance shortly before the frontman’s passing in 2017; a concert viewed by over 11.7 million people across Canada, with broad public and media attention. Authenticated by the Gord Downie family, it elevated Gary to a nationally admired artist who creatively captures and works with Canadian icons, even designing a custom space ship for Captain Kirk (Star Trek’s William Shatner). O'Brien's 25-year career in painting, illustration, and animation has led him to work on projects such as Rush’s Clockwork Angels tour, Gemini Award-Winning and Emmy-Nominated productions for Disney, Nickelodeon, Mattel and feature films such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
