You may have heard about the exciting new revitalization project called the Parliament Slip being led by Waterfront Toronto. This is part of my-toronto.ca’s ongoing coverage of Toronto’s Waterfront initiatives that include our current wavedecks, upcoming footbridges, the Port Lands, the new Biidaasige park just to mention a few. Waterfront Toronto’s been busy!
Industrial Wasteland to Swimming Pools and Bridges
This project is taking place inside the Parliament slip, a former shipping and industrial slip along Queens Quay East at the foot of Parliament Street. This current wasteland was last used for industrial shipping purposes over several decades ago. This parcel of property was just sitting underused and separated from the rest of the city. But thanks to new efforts from the city, this spot is entering a new era that will feature floating swimming pools, a floating sauna, kayak and canoe launches, floating pier with concessions, a WaveDeck and pedestrian bridge.
Great For Neighbouring Communities
Its next door neighbour? The Aqualuna condominium where Residents and visitors will easily be able to access these amenities as well as walking paths and plazas, forming a key connection between the built neighbourhood and the revitalized waterfront. And the residents who have been living here since spring of 2025 may have their patience paying off in the end when all this work is complete.
What are the crews working on today? They’re busy prepping for what’s to come. Lakefilling and dock wall construction started in 2024 and were completed early this year. Infrastructure and servicing, along with street realignments, will continue through this year and into 2026.
Who is Running This Thing When It’s Done?
This space is owned by the City and managed through Waterfront Toronto. The goal? To create a vibrant, accessible public waterfront for recreation, swimming, boating, dining and gathering.
Expected to be ready in 2026, we’re a little pumped about the floating pools.
