Love Park’s heart-shaped pond is officially open for spring! This week, it receives some extra lovin’ by the city…getting filled with UV and Osmosis treated water.
There’s a Lot to Love About Love Park
#1: Great for Coffee or Lunch Breaks
Love Park in our downtown core is a sweet spot for a break in the work day with nearby shops and cafes with seating under a trellis soon to be covered in purple flowering wisteria. A perfect place for to-go street food and iced capps.
#2: The Painstaking Detail That Went into the Pond’s Border
Using Mexican glass mosaic tiles, these small red squares were custom-made in Montreal. Hundreds of Thousand of tiles were hand-selected and arranged with differentiating red tones to achieve their pixilated imagery.
Pre-assembled in the studio, these crimson and ruby pieces display meticulous craftsmanship. So be sure to note this hard work when sitting on its edge!
#3: Scavenger Hunt with the Animals
Throughout this 2-acre park, there are 9 bronze-cast sculptures of Canadian wildlife (created by Canadian artists Created by Tyler Balko and Marina Guglielmi).
Spotting them is fun, especially for kids. Keep your eyes peeled for:

- Polar Bear (crafted after “Juno”, Toronto Zoo’s Polar Bear)
- Woodpecker
- Beaver
- Blue Jay
- Raccoon
- Chipmunk with Hearts
#4: Dog Park Pit Stop
Within Love Park is a small but well-designed dog park. It measures 255 metres, has K9 Turf material and is fenced and secure. Love Park has a pet fountain near the main drinking fountain.

Love Park has been used as a filming location, while still allowing the public to flow through the park; most recently, “Law and Order Toronto”.
