Our Guinness Mission Continues
We continue hunting for the perfect Guinness pour priced around $10.
So we’re at The Jason George on Front Street East and recommended to us by a true Irishman.
It has to meet 3 criteria: quality, taste, appearance.
Verdict?
Huge Props to The Jason George who has mastered the artful pour with its fine serving of a great Guinness. How? Among many things, the barkeeps at The Jason George are (among many other Guinness rules):
- Pouring at a 45° angle until the golden harp logo, waiting 90 to 120 seconds before topping up to create that 12-18mm crisp-white foam head, just sitting above the rim
- Serving at around 6°C
- Keeping clean, regularly flushed lines to avoid stale beer. A true travesty if this is not done properly and often.
So, as you can see, it’s not easy, this art of serving an authentic Guinness Draught.
But What About the Price?
At $10.25 for a 20-oz pint, the Guinness at The Jason George, for now, sits in my-toronto’s #1 spot. But, hey! It’s an ongoing quest, so keep the suggestions coming.
