A pedestrian-friendly zone in The Village has finally been given the green light.

Church Street, between Wellesley and Alexander, will be closed to traffic.

As we take you down this busy 2-block section, let’s talk about this project that comes with some controversy.

It will run from June 19th to August 21st. Local businesses are mostly excited about the closure, but the city stays highly concerned about waste management, essential business deliveries, crowds and emergency responses.

Pride alone brings over 3 million visitors in June and World Cup is expecting hundreds of thousands.

If It Fails?

Enter: The escape clause. Transportation Services can cancel this at any time if it causes harmful impacts or traffic congestion.

So! Do you think it’ll survive up to August 21st? Comment yes or no.
