The waterfront trail along Lake Ontario is one of the most popular cycling destinations in Toronto, but now with the expansion of the East Don Trails, the northern parts out of the city now connect and flow all the way to Lake Ontario.
Thanks to the Canadian Government investing $11.25 million towards this new project, there are tons of playful spots as you ride parallel with the Don River: Bridge crossings, river sightings, cascading mini falls and tight little switchbacks. Five bridge crossings keep it interesting as you head towards Bermondsey; hard to believe this all weaves through the heart of this fast-paced city.
Even though the new pedestrian bridge is open, there are sections under construction, so keep a keen eye out for work that may impede the trek.
We’ll post more to come as this expansion continues but for Toronto’s Conservation updates, visit the East Don Trail Project here.
