A KITCHEN LOVER’S PARADISE ON THE DANFORTH

Some shops simply sell things. Others become part of a neighbourhood’s rhythm. On the Danforth, iQliving is firmly in the second group. This beloved kitchen store sits at 542 Danforth Ave., just west of Carlaw, in the heart of Greektown. For 20 years, it’s been a favourite stop for home cooks, bakers and anyone who loves a kitchen stocked just right. Recently, we stopped by to see why so many locals keep coming back.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

The selection. The store is packed with cookware, bakeware, gadgets and housewares. You’ll find everything from mixing bowls and measuring cups to baking sheets and cookie cutters. It’s the kind of place where, if you can’t find it here, you probably won’t find it anywhere.

The service. iQliving also prides itself on friendly, knowledgeable customer service. Staff are happy to help you find the right tool for the job.

WHO SHOPS HERE?

Honestly, just about everyone. Serious home chefs come for quality cookware. Weekend bakers hunt for the perfect pan. Newcomers to the neighbourhood can stock a first kitchen in one stop. It’s also a smart spot for gifts, especially for the foodie who seems to have everything.

WHY SHOP LOCAL?

Independent shops give the Danforth its character. When we shop local, we keep that character alive. We also support neighbours who know their products and care about their customers. A store doesn’t reach 20 years on a busy main street by accident. The community has kept iQliving thriving, and the store has returned the favour.

WHERE TO FIND IT

iQliving is at 542 Danforth Ave., on the north side just west of Carlaw Avenue. It sits between Pape and Chester subway stations, about 5 minutes on foot from either one. Driving? There’s a Green P lot just off Ferrier Avenue. Online orders can also be picked up in store.

While you’re in the area, make a day of it. Stroll along the Danforth and browse the other independent shops. Then grab a bite at one of Greektown’s many restaurants and cafés.
