This donkey in leg casts is located at St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto (1020 Bay St). “Primrose” was a real baby donkey born in England with underdeveloped bones. Veterinarians applied casts and, within days, Primrose was hopping about and on her way to a successful recovery.
Children were allowed to sign the monument’s casts, but these signatures have long faded. However, Torontonians still scribble well wishes and signatures to Primrose’s casts. Canadian artist Myfanwy MacLeod.
