You’ve probably spotted these cranes rising from the Don Valley while cruising the DVP highway near Eglinton. So we’re going down into the valley to see exactly what’s happening at ground level.
Ontario Line Moving Ahead
This is, of course, part of the Metrolinx Ontario Line subway expansion, building the Don Valley Crossing and West Don Crossing bridges, for future subway trains travelling high above the river.
As you can see, the Lower Don Multi-Use Trail meanders through these construction zones, so be sure to keep a keen eye for workers, signage and other cautions. Certain areas have been closed throughout last year, but these sections now seem open, guiding trail users through, despite the ongoing mess.
When is completion? With the Ontario Line hopefully wrapping up in 2030, this valley area work, known as the North Elevated Guideway, is expected to complete in 2028.
