Toronto’s 5th Avenue

Fifth Avenue. Rodeo Drive. You have probably heard of these North American posh shopping areas. But Toronto also has its well-known luxury shopping destination: The Mink Mile.

Located on Bloor Street between Yonge and Avenue road in Yorkville, the Mink Mile is famed for its high end shopping experience.

Nicknamed in the 2000s and inspired by Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, our Mink Mile solidified itself as Canada’s priciest retail strip, with upgrades adding trees, art, and wide sidewalks making it a shoppers’ destination.

The Cream of the Crop

It’s a pedestrian-friendly luxury zone with upscale and well known brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Alexander Wang and Hermès with mid-tier spots like
Aritzia and Lululemon.

Its Yorkville neighbourhood sees around 5 million visitors a year and is a definite shopper’s Canadian luxury experience. These high-end shops thrive on this exclusivity, and the foot traffic from nearby hotels and condos, often called Canada’s 5th Avenue in tourism.

Renting retail space on Toronto’s Mink Mile is among Canada’s costliest, with prime spots commanding $600 CAD a sq ft.

But fancy retailers want to keep cashing in on its real estate. Like Tiffany’s new digs at Yonge and Bloor, up from its previous flagship location next to Burberry. Tiffany’s is a prime example of a retailer paying for that sought after status; classic Mink Mile economics.

Window Shopping

But, hey! Window shopping is always free if you want to peruse this posh, swanky area of Toronto that covers 1 kilometre along Bloor Street.
