Tuesday Evening’s 45-Degree Survival Test
With humidity pushing Toronto’s evening temperatures to a dangerous 45°C, ticket goers attending the RBC Amphitheatre in the full-sun lawn seats will be tested.
It’s Sticky
Environment Canada has issued an extreme heat warning that will peak Tuesday night and drag into Wed or Thursday Evening, with humidity pushing temperatures feeling well over 40c. Wednesday can expect high 30s and into Thursday morning.
Lawn Seats Take Extra Care
While fans in the 100 and 200-level seats enjoy covered shade, lawn ticket holders will face total, unprotected exposure to the late-afternoon sun. Packed body-to-body on the grass with zero overhead coverage, lawn goers are highly vulnerable to heat exhaustion and must actively seek out the shaded concourse areas to take regular physical breaks.
How to Prepare
While Staff may be handing out waters, do not rely on them. They’re allowing each patron to bring one 1-L sealed water bottle into the venue and an empty, reusable water bottle. Wear sun protective clothing and hat.
Take Advantage of the Free Refill Water Stations
These are located at the east and west sides of the fan plaza.
Jack White’s No-Phone Policy = Gate Delays
Right after security scans your ticket, venue staff will hand you a form-fitting, canvas “Yondr” pouch. You will slide your phone (and any smartwatches or recording devices) inside. The staff member will close the pouch, which automatically locks using a secure magnetic mechanism. You carry the locked pouch with you to your seat or the lawn. Your phone remains safely in your pocket or bag, but you cannot open the pouch or see the screen.
Why the Phone Ban?
Jack White enforces a strict phone-free policy at his concerts to ensure a “100% human experience”. The goal is to keep the audience fully engaged rather than watching the show through a screen, while also preventing distraction for the performers and other fans.
In an Emergency
Need to check your phone? Go to the clearly marked “Phone Use Areas” located in the concourse or lobby. A staff member there will tap your pouch against an unlocking base station so you can use your phone. Before returning to the performance area, the phone must be locked back inside the pouch.
