Berczy Park is a whimsical green space situated in the St. Lawrence neighbourhood.
Residing behind the famous Gooderham Building, it hosts an impressive fountain complete with 27 statues of dogs (and two cats hidden in there, too).
While the cats have opted out of the action, the dogs serve a functional role, spitting streams of water to the top of the fountain, where a large bone is perched.
Complete with a gravel area designed for dogs to do their business, this park is the city’s tribute to our furry friends.
Named after architect William Berczy, its current design (completed in 2015), was led by landscape architect Claude Cormier, known for his work at Sugar Beach.
Berczy Park’s proximity to other notable landmarks like the Gooderham Building, St. James’ Cathedral and the St. Lawrence Market makes it a must-see destination in Old Toronto.
