Bridges, flowing waterways, doubletrack gravel trails, garden spaces, asphalt trails and newly planted trees all add to the reasons why Taylor Creek Park is one of my-toronto.ca’s favourite nature spots.
If your goal is to get those 10,000 steps in, this is a picturesque place to do it. The park’s travel ways flow seamlessly into one another with views of the river and its tributaries running alongside you.
Inside its 182 acres are 57 bike paths, firepits, 4 picnic sites and washroom facilities. With the East Don Trail now connecting cyclists into the park’s shared trail system, it’s an awesome place for exploring whether you’re on foot or in the cycling saddle.
The city is making strong efforts to maintain wildlife habitats with its nest and bat boxes and adding more trees to the existing sugar maple, red oak and American beech already thriving.
Taylor Creek is also a birdwatcher’s paradise where they may spot species such as the eagle, hairy woodpecker, least flycatcher and white-breasted nuthatch.
