Taylor Creek Park is a beautiful, 182 acre lush forest and green space in the heart of Toronto; one of the many reasons Toronto is known as the city inside a park.
Why Should I Hike or Cycle Taylor Creek?
It showcases many natural points of interest, such as:
- Forests, marshes and scrub habitats
- Taylor-Massey Creek with scenic creek views
- A 6-km loop trail for hiking and biking
- Home to rare plants and diverse wildlife
- Includes peaceful picnic spots with benches and fire pits
- Has wetlands restoration projects supporting birds and insects.
- Contains an artificial waterfall along the trails
Great! Can You Offer a Guided Trail Map in Getting There By Way of The Don Trail System?
Absolutely!
We’ve mapped the route from the intersection of Bayview and Pottery Road. This starting point is a 4.5K distance from Toronto’s Waterfront or downtown core so you can take the easily accessible mixed-use trails to get to this location.
Why Should I Consider the Don Trails?
The lower and mid Don Trail section for this particular nature hike/cycle includes Don River crossings, underpasses with damn sightings, hidden art spaces and flowing, paved pathways for runners, hikers and cyclists. Thanks to the new Don Trail projects, its connectivity keeps growing and improving while protecting the natural habitat of the valley.
The trail is rich in flora and fauna, where you may spot Deer, foxes, raccoons, beavers, muskrats and other wildlife.
The Don Valley contains buried creeks and “lost rivers,” and some of these can still be heard or traced along adjoining walks. There are some great viewpoints along the way to spy dams, creeks and the running waters of the Don herself.
