Fair warning. Trying the ice cream we are about to mention will be the apocalyptic moment that may destroy all other ice cream experiences.
If you’ve experienced Eva’s…ice cream filled high and dripping down a freshly baked chimney cone loaded with ooey-gooey treats…then you’re not surprised that their single food truck in The Annex happily expanded to multiple locations across Canada, from coast to coast.
WHAT’S WITH THE CHIMNEY CONE?
Place your custom order and witness their family’s secret dough bake into a fresh pastry as it rotates on a chimney-shaped dowel over a special oven.
This creates its signature crunch on the outside, yet staying fluffy on the inside.
From there, the “chimney” is rolled in cane sugar, cookie crumbs or crushed nuts.
WHO IS EVA?
Eva herself immigrated to Canada in 1956 during the Hungarian revolution. However, it was her two grandchildren who brought the Chimney creations (known as kürtőskalács) to Canada by working closely with their grandmother to perfect their 7-ingredient recipe.
So…is it the best ice cream in the city? Definitely a strong contender.
Another delicious reason to love the impact multiculturalism has on this city’s globally known foodie culture.
