The financial district is a busy sector of Toronto. It breeds a bustling energy, people rushing to and from work with to-go cups in one hand and briefcases in the other.
And tucked into the heart of the district’s Toronto Dominion Centre, you’ll spot …cow statues?
Yep. Cows. Their presence offers a noticeable contrast to the sleek, black, bank towers that guard over them.
Created in 1985 by Canadian sculptor Joe Fafard, “The Pasture” was designed to add a sense of calmness to a busy environment. These seven bronze cows graze in TD’s grassy field and judging by how many people take a moment to enjoy them, it’s clear the cows have found their purpose.
Children and adults find joy in these sculptures on a daily basis. In fact, you spot more suits climbing atop these statues than you do the kids.
