It’s March break for most kids so here are 3 great ideas for free, fun events in Toronto!
TTC is free for kids under 12 all through March Break so no problem getting them around the city.
Parents, we’ve got your back. Keep scrolling down for more details:
#1: Legislative Assembly of Ontario
There’s nothing stuffy during March Break about the place where members of parliament usually debate, pass laws and sometimes act like school children themselves when arguing budgets and policies.
For Kids 6-12, you can:
- Receive a Guided Tour of the Historic Building, including the legislative chamber
- Explore typically off-limit parliamentary spaces during a Scavenger Hunt
- Dress up in traditional legislative robes
- Participate in mock debates and learn about the decision making process

#2: Pet a Police Horse
At the Exhibition Grounds in the Horse Palace, our fine equestrian officers are waiting for your attention! Approach the entrance on the north side of the building and buzz in. A (human) police officer will tour you around to each of the stalls and answer any questions. They even offer free trading cards on each horse officer as collectibles.
For more information and to call ahead to book a free tour, visit the Toronto Mounted Unit Website or read our story about the stables here.

#3: Art Gallery of Ontario
Kids are free at the AGO! Also free: AGO Members and those 25 years old and younger.
Other Free Stuff at AGO during March Break:
- Art Carts: Roving-maker stations (Art Carts) supply loads of art making activities from 11am to 4pm
- Interactive art installations. Finally “Do Not Touch” does not apply at the AGO!
- Activity Book complete with scavenger hunt, puzzles and games (free until they’re gone)
