VIBE

This place is done up to the nines, and a portion of Blue Bovine’s pricing definitely reflects the luxurious ambience and atmosphere with which Kevin O’Leary’s restaurant wishes to adorn its patrons.

There are two compelling reasons why my-toronto is adamant to include Blue Bovine as a Happy Hour Hot Spot:

NUMBER ONE

Despite its high-end menu and fancy choices, they actually have some very inexpensive happy hour options. For instance, $5.50 beers, which means Blue Bovine offers one of the most reasonable Guinness prices in town, even if it is in the can and not on draught.

NUMBER TWO

Their happy hour menu is fancy-shmancy, with wagu beef and lobster sliders as options. Even if prices don’t fall under $10, they’re very reasonable for this type of food choice.

DEAL

When3:00pm – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
Beer$5.50 for Corona, Guinness, Stella and other popular brands
Wine1/2 Price on all wines
Liquor1/2 price on all drinks
1 oz Grey Goose is $8
Upscale Bar Food$10 for Lobster Slider
$14 for Duck Spring Rolls (good portion)
$15 for 6 raw oysters (sustainable)
VerdictWith 14+ food choices such as wagu beef and maki rolls, this takes the standard happy hour to a higher level. Not the least expensive, but it gets your foot in the door for an upscale experience at some reasonable prices. $15.50 for a beer and wagyu slider isn’t too bad for this type of fancy fare and ambiance.

LOCATION

65 Front Street West, inside Union Station. With other options throughout Union, you could do a nice little commuter pub crawl or walk 15 minutes south to the water’s edge for Joe Bird‘s or Goodman.

IDEAL APPEAL

We like the opportunity to get into the posh places of our city without breaking the bank and happy hours are a great vehicle for exactly that. Even though you can still pay for some high end stuff at the Blue Bovine (such as a glass of Barolo for $25), you can still enjoy a $5.50 brand name pint or a $10 lobster slider. Their truffle fries and duck spring rolls are decently portioned for $12 and $14.

CRAWL WORTHY

As mentioned, Union Station is full of foodie hot spots so you can add the Blue Bovine in with other places or head down to the waterfront on Queen’s Quay and enjoy the strip of restaurants from The Goodman all the way to Amsterdam Brewhouse. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the opening of Queen’s Harbour in 2025.
