Sugar Beach: A Mediator Between Industrial and Playful Spaces

-

Not every neighbourhood promises great neighbours, but Sugar Beach residents Redpath and Corus Entertainment offer this fun strip a great synergy.

Impressively large sugar freighters dock and load from Redpath’s port while Corus Entertainment spills out from its tower with concerts, film screenings and other live events.

And what a spot to spill into: Sandy beaches lined with Muskoka chairs under brightly-coloured umbrellas, an accessible-friendly cobblestone promenade and tree-lined walkways along the water’s edge mark the perfect spot for relaxing.

Sugar Beach made sure to honour its industrial history by the large granite rock shipped in multiple pieces from Quebec and reassembled for sitting spaces. Top this all off with a splash park and you’ve discovered a great afternoon.

In the winter, be sure to check out Sugar Shack TO for maple syrup events and other fun pop-ups.
