Toronto’s Ossington Strip is a multifarious, trendy section in the Trinity Bellwoods ‘hood and Papi Chulo’s has been labeled a favourite among the locals.
Proving to be an authentic taqueria, friendly staff serve up indulgent plates such as citrus-cured ceviche, “sexy” guacamole (with a little spice) and slow cooked beef tacos inside a bright, yet cozy establishment.
What tops our list, though, is Papi Chulo’s loaded street corn; grilled and heaped with chipotle mayo, feta cheese, lime, chili and sour cream. Tan Bueno!
Open late into the night, the place holds that iconic Ossington Strip liveliness. Even though higher priced, their stylish cocktails come with quite a signature kick: Watermelon Basil Margaritas, Shark Attacks and Mami’s Paloma.
Looking for cheap and cheerful? Their bucket of 5 beers goes for $40. For a Corona, $8 ain’t bad and washes those house made spicy sauces with crispy tortillas down nicely.
