It’s not easy to make your choice at Dough Bake Shop on The Danforth. So many aromas envelope the senses as you peruse butter tarts, breads, cookies and more.
However, We Speak Directly to “The Jimmy”
Appearing as a giant Nanaimo bar, but something altogether different, The Jimmy is an elevated experience. It’s layered with a chocolate-peanut butter bar, cream filling and chocolate topping. Unlike its overly sugared look-a-like, The Jimmy nails the perfect amount of sweetness and combination of layers.
Another Favourite: The Flourless Chocolate Cakelette
Dense, rich and decadent, you’d think it would put some hefty weight in your hand. However, it is surprisingly light and airy. Not sure how they balance both elements in one extravagance, but it’s a definite indulgence.
With the intention of selling their small-batch baking by day’s end, this family operation aims for zero waste. Any leftovers are donated, gifted or repurposed.
We’ll do our best to join their mission of sustainability and reduce food waste by visiting this Danforth bakery often. It’s the least we can do.
